September 5th 2K8

Left Rochester around 8 AM. First stop Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory for their tour. Short but informative and we got free ice cream at the end. Art liked that part! Headed toward Arcadia National Park with the aid of Agnes (our GPS guide). Didn't always like her directions but we did make head way. Just kept driving till dark and put up for the night in Moose River New Hampshire. Very pretty trip, Vermont a lot like New York and the Green Mountains remind me of ADK Mountains.

Onto the park, it was another 4 hours, finally got here around noon. Was warned at the ranger station that Hannah may pass our way. Be ready to leave in the middle of the night. What me worry...not, went driving around the park for four hours. Had a great late lunch at Jordan Pond House, had a wonderful lobster roll. Art ordered a sweet dessert, homemade popover filled with homemade peach ice ceam and topped with fresh Maine blueberry sauce...very yummy.
After lunch went to Bass Harbor Lighthouse, then to a place called Thunder Hole, where the ocean comes crashing in and makes a booming sound and gets everyone wet.
Still quite a nice day..a little muggy but nice.
Came back to camp around 7 PM, did a little walking around camp and then deceide to go to bed a little..long day tired us out.

Started pouring and I mean pouring. After a 30 minutes or so deceide we might be safer in the car and THEN Ranger Kim came along and told us they were clearing out the campsites. Heavy rain and high winds were coming our way. Packed up, left the deflated tent and headed for a motel and I still in my jammies!

Finally found a cheappie in Bar Harbor, checked in and the power went out! Not for long but now Art was hungry, so we headed looking for something to eat, everything closed..it is 11 PM after all. Came back, got out the camp box and fixed PB&J. A real campers staple!

Enough excitment for one day..off to bed.
